Blue Herons and other birds

We were in Mexico this past week.
These tall trees are real close to our cabin.
The Blue Herons are just starting to nest in them.
They seems to like them and return every year. By the end of March there will be about 40 birds nesting on these poor trees.
A blue heron is a large bird. Its wing span is about 5-6 feet. He weighs about 5-8 pounds. Stands about 3 feet tall. He eats mainly fish.
Their nests are made of mainly sticks.

What beautiful birds.

Some other birds we found on the beach for Jakey to chase.

Excitment in our front yard

We had Santa Ana Winds Wednesday. This tree fell on the power lines just across the street from our house. Yes, one of the lines fell down and laying on my orange tree and fence and then all the way across the street. This line was live, so was my fence. All the lines going into Butteroff's house were riped out. We only had enough electric to run a light in our house.
After calling Edison with no luck, 2 of my neighbors and myself decided to called 911. We knew the fire department or the police would have to come.
We were worried about the live wire lying across the street and some dumb kid touching it. The fire department did come. When they called Edison for us they listened. Edison said they would be there in 15 minutes. but it took them 45 minutes to make it. The fire department couldn't leave until Edison arrived. So there we all stood in the road waiting for Edison. Watching the green grass smoke trying to burn.
All Edison did was turn off the power and cut the wire that was laying across the road. Then left. Now what. Now, we don't have any electric.
They did returned about 8:00 that night. Dennis had went to bed no reason to stay up in the dark. Candles don't make that much light.
Jake and I watched them work outside. We were inside our living room wrapped in a blanket. About 11:30 we gave up and went to bed. We were back up at 5:30 because the house was cold. Of course this was the coldest night of the year, 32 degrees. Then at 6:15 the lights came on. Yea we will have heat too.

Our heros, who worked all through the night so we could have lights. Notice the sky is pink , the sun is just coming up.

The wire that was laying across our street.

Because the wire was live. It was burning the grass even the green grass was smoking and burning.

We love our lights and heat.

Ha Haaaaa

While the rest of the country is digging out from winter ice and snow. Having snow days and etc.
I am outside taking pictures of my daffodils. They are blooming early this year.
I guess that is why some people like to live in Southern California.
