A work of Love

A little over a year ago Melissa ask me to make her a black and white quilt.  They have a king size bed and she wanted it to be a bed spread.  So I started to buy black and white prints.  I learned you have to be careful that the white isn't a off white.  Can I add a color to it.  No was always the answer.
Then I found this twister pattern, easy I could do it.  Afraid I would get lost in the size she wanted and get all the pieces mixed up. Big block was my answer.  Each block would be 30 plus inches. The plan was put into action.  A year sewing and buying more fabric I saw it completed.  Off to a quilter to have it machine quilted.  Then wait until her birthday to give it to her.  Here it is.

I made five pillows all sizes made out of the scraps.
It was so much fun to make.  But never again will I make one this size.
Happy Birthday Lizzy.

Willow's Quilt.

Willow wanted me to help her make a quilt.  So while she was here this summer, she made a quilt. I had lots of poke-a-dot fabrics, in which she could choose the ones she wanted to use. After she picked eight different pieces.  She was ready to cut.   Five  8 inches squares out of each fabric.

Then to the floor, planning which  pattern went where.   Cute pattern.
I showed her how to sew them together in rows.  And off she went sewing for a couple of hours.

If you learn to sew .  You must also learn to take apart.  UNPICK.
You need to keep all the seams pressed.
Finished product.  Didn't she do a super job.
I am very proud of her and the first quilt she made.  By the way she is only 11.
Excellent job Willow.
