Not too much has went on here this past week.

Ben was in California on a business trip, he will have to tell you about that. We were happy to go to San Diego and get him for a few days. I forgot to take a picture of him. He got to eat at Miguel's and Chilli's. Didn't have time to go to In and Out or Steer Grill.

Phoenix spent the night.

I am just going to post some of my favorite pictures.

A California sunset.
Nothing is more special than a sister's love. Willow plays with her little sister so cute. Lily loves her big sister too.

Christmas time when Daisy was here. Daisy knew who would give her treats
Lily's first pony tail. She has a little more hair now but not much.

Phoenix's favorite spot to watch TV.

POPCORN

I looked out the window and what did I see "Popcorn popping in my back yard, It really wasn't so, but it seen to be"
These are just nectarine trees, but they still look like pink popcorn.

The California poppies and lupine are in bloom on all the hill sides next to the freeways.

This is my favorite time of year in California. I love the wild flower when they bloom. Too bad everybody in my family has allergies or maybe they could enjoy them too.

St. Patrick's Day

I have my corn beef in the pot cooking, carrots and potatoes peeled and cut ready to add, cabbage will go later. I need to look on the internet and find a recipe for irish soda bread and our irish dinner will be ready. This is one of my favorite meals.

This was one of my favorite holidays when my family was still at home and I was still teaching school. The whole playground looked green.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

BIRTHDAYS

The birthdays are over mine was on the fifth and Grandpa's was Sunday. We had John, Sueanne, Scott, and Grandma over for dinner. He picked ribs, twice baked potatoes, corn, and salad. We had strawberry short cake for dessert.
Here is a picture of grandpa and some of his favorite little ones.

THE GRUNION RUN MARCH 2009

I had decided not to post another post about the ocean and San Felipe. (Some of these pictures are R-rated) Well, the grunion were running and how could I not post this. A grunion is a long skinny silvery fish about 7 inches long. The grunion run an hour or so after high tide, I don't know how often. They come up on the beach to lay their eggs in the sand. The grunion in San Felipe always run in during the day, where the ones on our California beaches run at night. We sat on the beach almost two hours watching and taking pictures of them that afternoon.

There seem to be millions just on the beach in front of our cabin.

They were just thick with all the females trying to lay her eggs in the sand.

The female fish wiggle and twist, using her tail to dig herself down in the sand. The male wraps himself around and releases the sperm . Sometimes more that one male will wrap around her. This all has to be done between waves. They are very fast.

Notice all the females twisting down in the sand.

A grunion run last about 2 hours. Then after about two weeks, on high tide the hatching hatch and swim out to sea. See why I posted it.

CURTAINS

If you have ever been to our cabin in San Felipe, you know that there are no curtians. Why rush, it has been only 20 years. At night with the lights on, you are inside a fish bowl.
Well, we now have some curtians. I bought some Mexican blankets in town. Took the blankets home to the states.
( measured, zig-zagged, cut, hemmed, vialo simple curtians)
Then to Lowes to buy rods and clip rings.
John Allen and Dennis getting ready to put up the rods.
John putting up the rods.
Did you notice the window frame is still not painted. Maybe manana. When I do get around to painting it, it will be light yellow to match the bricks.

One curtian hung. Slide it open for the day and close it after dark.

Now isn't that beautiful. I have started to decorate the cabin.
