More getaway pictures Mt Puntago

We need to go potty and didn't dare go on the edge of the road when there was a 2000 feet feet drop off one foot off the side of the road. So Dad bought us all Hot Chocolate so we could use their bathrooms. It was well worth it.
Can you see the glacier off the right.

Hikilng up the trail to get a better picture of the Mt Puntago and the Glaicer Paloma. The note I left Dennis telling him ( This little old lady was going back). Then he didn't even find it on his way back down the moutain. It a good thing I didn't wait for him to find me, he wouldn't have found me either.

Get Out of the City Day

We were invited to go up go with the doctors for a Saturday picnic. We went up to the Ski Resort just above Los Condes up into the Andes the head waters for the Maphocho River. This is the road there were 70 some curves and switch backes Look close and you can see several here. The road went straight up the mountain. Only a two land road too.
A little stream that we crossed while hiking to the Glacier. We didn't make it .
This is Dad standing in front of Mt Putago ( 22,000 ft pike)
The river Maphacho. The water looked white it is all runoff from the Glacier.
This mountain is above timber line and nothing was growing on it.

Employment Center (Elder Taylor)

We are area missionaries, in Santiago, Chile. Area missionaries do all kinds of different things. From office worker to the area doctor and every thing in between. Most of us work 5 day a week with Saturdays off and Sunday. We have been called to work in the Employment Office as office workers. We love it. The picture above is the Employment Office at Republica. It is set next to the Republica chapel.
Our day begins at 7 am. We walk10 blocks to the metro, ride the metro to Republica, then walk 8 more blocks to the office. We arrive at the office around 8 am. Here is Dennis openning the door and taking of the chain and padlock off. After we have opened. We scan all the computers. Cut the want adds out of the newpaper and get ready to open at 9am.
Elder Taylor helps conselor and advise people of what type of job they should look for. He also helps them know where they can look for a job. He give phone numbers to them for any of the jobs we have listed. He loves to talk and help them. He has met lots of interesting Chilean
He teaches the TAL worshop (career workshop) Tuesday through Thursday from 10 am to 4pm.. This is a workshop to teach every one how to interview, look, and put their best foot forward to get a job. Sometimes he teaches it on Saturday, too. We also have another class called TAE this teaches people how to open up and operate a small business.
When Sister Keen is eating or etc. He sits on the front desk. He he answers the phone, lets people in, greets them sweetly and gets their name address phone number and what stake they are from. Sister Keen goes home in one week so he will be on the front desk all the time.

Employement Center Republica (Hmna Taylor)

One of my jobs is to type in names to form a data base of all the members that we find jobs for each month. I also am charge of the cash box. All of the voluntaries get money for their bus or metro trip to and from the center and $1000 mil for lunch. They are willing to voluntary but can afford the bus ticket to and from the center. I give out this money. We have had some of the most wonderful people voluntary in our center. We have learned to love all Chileans.
Since I am the only one in the upstairs office. I decided that I could be my own boss.
Sister Keen and I fix lunch for all of us in the office daily (3 missionaries 2 voluntaries, and a boss). Do you see a stove, no, because there isn't one, but we do have a microwave oven. So we cook a lot of it at home, the night before and carry it to the office and warm it at lunch time. There is no hot water either. Chilean don't use hot water to wash dishes. Sister Keen and I heat water in the microwave, to at least rinse them in. I love my kitchen at home and miss it.
This is the computer lab that I run part of the time. Resume are written for me to print. Sometimes resume need to be emailed to companies and etc. I can do this, now. The computer is also used to look for jobs. We have a list of job web sites. There are two telephones to be used to call about jobs. Sometimes I will have as many 12-15 people in their at once.
Melissa and Dave don't laugh when I say I run the computer lab. I CAN with the Lord's help. Besides I can answer any question with , SI, NO SE, or Marcela. You would be real proud of me.
One of the main things I need to do is watch that our mouses, key boards, staplers, sissors and etc., don't walk off in someone bag. We keep nothing on the desk.

We have found lots of Water Falls

Bridal Veil Falls. No, it is not a spring.
Melissa is this where you baptized the Cattle Rustler. This whole river is filled with little pools and water falls. Each one was prettier than the last one.

Siete Tazas The Seven Cups water Fall

We took a little side trip on Saturday. We went to see the Siete Taza. You go to Molina and then up in the Andes toward Argentina for about 54 km. The road was dirt but good. It had rained on Friday so it was foggy. These are the seven cups you can only see 5 or six of them. Aren't these water falls unbelieveable.

Dad down next to the river and the bottom water fall.
Dad and Sister Keen climbing back up the steps we came down to get closer to the bottom fall (cup). The steps were funny some 2 feet high and the next one only a foot.
Notice the foggy.

This one is clearer. I didn't mean to get two of the same water fall. But it was so pretty .

Siete Tazas The Seven Cups water Fall

Salto de Laja

Dennis and the Austins. There was so much mist from the water you got wet just standing there.
This is a dry year so the water level is down. There was still lots of water.
Looking back at the water fall. This water fall is between Chillan and Los Angeles

Water Falls we have found in Chile

Taken in the Andes above San Jose de Maipo. On the road to Lago Yeso, Lake Yeso
I love this Chilean made water fall.
I just thought this one was pretty.
The next two are frozen water falls. It was still cold here.

This is Where we live

This is the street we live on. That Dad on the sidewalk.
Our apartment building. We live on the sixth floor. That is the top corner apartment. The little balcony is off from our living room.
My solar dryer on the balcony.
The Andes taken from our balcony. Last winter.

Kitchen

My gas stove. I am moving a little knob. It has to be moved every 5 minutes while baking, for even baking. I don't think it makes any differents. There is only one temperature, hot, so if I don't watch thing real close I burn it.
This is my Chilean kitchen. It has a 12 inch shelf of the left and a double sink. ther is only room for one person to wash dishes at once. The whole kitchen is only 4 feet wide. I had just been to the ferie so I have lots of fruit on the shelf. I have gotten to love the color it was painted when we moved in. This is a very large kitchen.

I have a washing machine just off the kitchen. I love my washing machine. It is small, but that is okay. I can wash clothes when ever I want too.
On the top of the picture is our water heater. When you turn on the hot water it lights and heats the water. We think this would be great for Mexico.

Our Bedroom

Dad's night stand is a TV box and a some table cloth covering
My night stand is a folding chair with a dollie and a little vase.
This is a copper picture we bought to bring home.

Our Home in Santiago, Chile

This is our living room. Notice the temple chair. and the temple curtains. When they redid the Santiago temple many of the things were not going to be used again. So the Senior missionaies grabbed on to them. Sister Wilson gave us the chair. I made the curtain out of a use temple curtain. The couch and the rug is from the temple apartments. these items are in many of our apartments.
