Death in the Taylor household

I got up a few weeks ago and found everything in the refrigerator little warm. The refrigerator had died. Being about ten years old we decided that we should go and buy a new one.

After a couple of hours removing the food that was still good downstair into other refrigerator. Throwing away half of the food in both refrigerators. The stuff in the freezer was still frozen so I just put into the freezer in the garage. Of couse everything needed to be rearranged. Taking out the trash several times. What fun, I was tired after going up and down the steps all morning long. Why do people build houses with steps. Never again.

Then off to the store to see what they have and the prices. I picked out a couple . No, we hadn't measured the hole. So back home, find the tape measurer and measure the hole. Then back to the store and measure the new refrigerator. Yes, it will fit but just barely. So we bought it. Wow the price has really went up since we last time we bought one. Oh well, it is only money.

The old one and the new one wouldn't be delivered for a week. We could manage.
Every time I went to make a meal. I tried to remember everything I needed, so I would only have to make one trip down the steps. I always had to make two or three trips up and down just to make a sandwich. (Senior moments.) When all your food is down stairs who wants to go down the steps just for something, you really don't need anyway. Good for diets.

I love my new refrigerator. I love the freezer on the bottom and the two doors on the top. Notice it just fits into the hole. Dennis says the milk is nice and cold all the time. Phoenix could still find the ice cream. So we are all happy.

Grandma's little Yorkie

We got a little dog. He is a Yorkie. He is 3 months old and weighs only 4 pounds, he shouldn't get over 7 pounds as an adult.

He still has his baby hair so I don't know what color he is going to be yet. He has a bad case of gray roots on top of his head. Isn't he cute.
No name yet. Any suggestions we are open.
Help Alec how did you housebreak Rusty. I think I am going to need help. I have all the instructions on how to crate train him. Help

BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR FAWN SIMPSON

The weekend of Mother's Day. Dennis and I took his mother to Utah for her sister, Fawn's 90th birthday.

Here's her brother Wayne 92, Dennis's mother, Margret 86 and the birthday girl Fawn 90. It was a fun party and lots of cousins that we hadn't seen for years. They had all gotten old just like we had. Lots of gray hair.
We took a side trip during the day. We went out to the cemetery, in Plain City and found Dennis's dad grave. Then we found the old Taylor family home, it was build in the 18oo's. The couple who is living there is restoring and modeling it.

Drove past the Simpson family home, too. Just drove around and looked at things he and his mother could remember in Odgen .

We had a fun fast trip.

Big sleepover at Grandma's

Melissa needed a baby sitter for Wed and Thurs. She was giving AP tests for the school district there in Hemet. Dave would be at work. So it was decided that the three youngest could come to Grandmas for a big sleep over. The kids were thrilled.
Phoenix loves sleepovers at Grandma's house. He was delighted and brought 3 pairs of PJ's because he was going to stay 3 nights. He did miss his mom the last day and didn't know that he had only slept 2 nights.

Does this bring back memories to your childhood?
When we first moved into the house and had parties in the backyard. We had only a limited number of chairs, so this is where all the children ate. On the steps of the back porch.
Poppy learn a new skill.

Look who thinks she is big enough to play games on Grandma's computers.
We had a wonderful time. The kids had all kinds of things to take home that Grandma got for them. They aren't spoiled.

Mother's Day

As I am entering the sunset of my life. I know what is the greatest pay off of Motherhood.

It is being a grandmother.
My little grandkids love me unconditionally. I am old, wrinkled, can't walk and run with them as I once could. But, I can love them. It doesn't matter if my house is not as fancy as theirs. I have trees to climb. I have rocks and shells to collect. I have a computer they can play on. Games to play with them and grandma never ever wins. Lots of snacks. I can clean up the messes after they go home. I want Grandma's house to be a fun place to come.
These little spirits makes all the pains of being a mother worth while.
Any grandmother will agree with me. Happy Mother's Day

END OF SPRING IN CALIFORNIA

Summer is almost here in California.
Our hills are now light brown, no more pretty green hills or wild flowers.
My roses are in bloom.
The tomatoes are planted.
I need to get out and weed my catcui garden, been putting it off. ??????
The humming birds are fighting, all day long in my back yard over who gets to drink from what feeder (i have 3 feeders).
The butterflies are doing their thing.
The birds are busy building nests and chirping.
Our desert tortoise (turtle) came out yesterday, they hibernate all winter long.
We had a reunion with some of our missionaries friends, we made in Chile during our mission. We met at our house before heading out.
We went to Carlsbad, California and visited the ranunculus fields. They were beautiful. About 50 acres of just different colors of the ranunculus. They are raised for cut flowers, tourist and their bubls.
Then we returned to our house and played cards. It was so much fun to visit with them and catch up on the news.
These flowers reminded me of easter eggs.

See once in a while i am be in the picture too.

Butterflies, more butterflies

All the different kinds of live butterflies that were flying around in the BUTTERFLY HOUSE in Chesterfield, Missouri. Thousands . A must if you go to St Louis, Mo.
It was neat.

Need I say more I loved it. Dad always had one or two catching a free ride on him. This one had the most beautiful blue wings.
